Additional Information About BMS

Services are intended to be short term (about 6 months to 2 years) and consultative, with the primary goal of reducing challenging behaviors.

Once a referral is accepted, a BMS clinician creates an individualized behavior plan based on the results of a functional assessment that determines why behaviors are occurring.

The clinician trains caregivers in the home to implement the plan and supports them with the interventions, providing feedback, training, and recommendations.

Visits occur weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly depending on the client’s level of need, with visits lasting an average of 45 to 60 minutes.

Caregivers responsible for implementing the plan may be parents, guardians, or AFC or CLS staff, depending on where the client lives.

BMS does not include consultation to schools or inpatient hospitals, but the BCBA may offer to attend an IEP or occasional school visits as non-billable support on a case-by-case basis.
