Behavior Technician
Behavior Technician
Overview
At Gateway Pediatric Therapy, Behavior Technicians play a vital role in helping autistic children learn, grow, and thrive. As part of our clinical team, you will provide 1:1 Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy under the supervision of a board-certified behavior analyst (BCBA). You will receive hands-on training, ongoing support, and opportunities to advance your career in a field that changes lives every day.
This is an excellent role for individuals who are compassionate, patient, eager to learn, and excited to make a difference.

- Implement treatment plans created by a BCBA, focusing on communication, social skills, daily living skills, and behavior support
- Use positive, evidence-based strategies to teach new skills and reduce barriers to learning
- Collect accurate data during each session to help track progress
- Follow guidance and feedback from your supervising BCBA
- Support children through structured activities, play-based learning, and daily routines
- Maintain professionalism, reliability, and compassion in all interactions with clients and families

What We’re Looking For
- High school diploma or equivalent (some college or a related degree is a plus)
- A passion for working with children and helping others
- Strong communication skills and a willingness to learn
- Ability to follow clinical guidance and work as part of a team
- Ability to lift, move, or support children as needed during sessions
- Reliable transportation and consistent attendance
Why Choose Gateway
- Ongoing supervision and mentorship from experienced BCBAs
- Clear career pathways with opportunities for advancement
- Supportive, inclusive culture grounded in compassion and person-centered care
- Meaningful work where you see the impact of your efforts every day
- Competitive pay and benefits
No prior ABA experience is required. We provide all training needed to become a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT).
Training Process
Each new Behavior Technician participates in a structured two-week onboarding experience that integrates both didactic classroom instruction and hands-on learning within therapy sessions. This immersive approach ensures early exposure to real clinical environments while building foundational competency. Onboarding focuses on the development of core behavior-analytic skills, client engagement, and safety, all aligned with Behavior Analyst Certification Board standards and Gateway’s clinical expectations. From the outset, technicians are introduced to our in-house training curriculum, company values, and a collaborative, team-based culture.
Training does not end after onboarding. Ongoing professional development is embedded throughout each technician’s career, with continuous evaluation and shaping of clinical skills to ensure high-quality service delivery. On-site trainers provide consistent coaching, feedback, and support as staff grow in their roles. Technicians are also offered clear pathways for advancement, including opportunities to develop into Lead or Senior Technician roles, reinforcing a culture of growth, accountability, and clinical excellence.
Behavior Technician Career Pathways
At Gateway, we believe in investing in our team. Our Behavior Technician Pathways program gives you a clear, supportive, and achievable route to advance your career in ABA. Whether you are brand-new to the field or building toward a BCBA role, our tiered model helps you develop your skills, take on new responsibilities, and earn increased compensation as you grow. Our pathway includes three levels:
Behavior Technician
As a Behavior Technician, you will learn the fundamentals of ABA, receive hands-on training, and work 1:1 with clients under the supervision of a BCBA. You will gain experience in data collection, skill acquisition, behavior support, and session implementation, all while being supported by mentors and supervisors who want to see you succeed.
Lead Behavior Technician
Eligible team members can test into the Lead Behavior Technician role. Leads demonstrate strong clinical skills, reliability, and professionalism. In this role, you will support new technicians, model best practices, and help ensure high-quality sessions. Leads receive additional compensation and are eligible for enhanced benefits such as evening shift premiums and expanded training opportunities.
Senior Behavior Technician
Senior Behavior Technicians are experienced clinicians who consistently demonstrate excellence in session quality, teamwork, communication, and client support. After meeting eligibility requirements and successfully testing into the role, Senior BTs take on responsibilities such as assisting peers, supporting onboarding, and helping with clinical preparation. This level includes increased pay, additional benefits, and opportunities for deeper involvement in clinical operations.
Advancement You Can Count On
- Eligible to test into the Lead or Senior level after 3 months of employment
- Clear expectations and transparent criteria for each tier
- Additional compensation at every level
- Opportunities for evening shift premiums, mentorship, and additional training
- A supportive team committed to helping you grow
