A Glimpse Into a Day in the Life
A typical shift as a Behavior Technician looks like:
· Arriving at your client’s scheduled location and reviewing materials/documentation
· Engaging with the client in a therapeutic manner (supporting the child through play & implementing procedures prepared by your supervising clinician)
· Recording performance and instances of behavior that may impede the client’s ability to learn/engage in activities
· Connecting with the child’s supervisor as needed, to provide updates
· Debriefing the child’s caregiver about their day/progress
· Leaving the client’s shift and following the rest of your assigned schedule
Overview of Job Duties
· Provide 1:1 therapy at our centers/in our client’s homes under the supervision and guidance of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA)
· Follow client specific programs, behavior plans, and other activities/procedures for each client
· Complete all required clinical documentation in an accurate and timely manner
· Maintain client privacy in accordance with all HIPAA regulations & Gateway policies
How Do I Become a Behavior Technician at Gateway?
Step 1: Training and Onboarding
Upon joining our team, you will receive paid training and instruction on the basic principles of ABA, how its applied in therapy, and how to collect data and track client progress. Our training takes a classroom-style approach with role-playing exercises, shadowing therapy sessions, and hands-on practice with clients. Following the completion of training, you will begin working independently with clients. You will be under the supervision of our clinical supervisors, helping clients develop new skills and modify behaviors that are paramount to their success.
Step 2: Continual Support & Professional Development
You will be assigned a clinical and an administrative point of contact who will offer guidance, training, and opportunities as you continue learning and growing. Additionally, our Client Clinical Supervisors are often present during sessions to offer client-specific guidance and support as needed.
