Inspiring Life-Changing Benefits in Children With Autism

For more than five decades, Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy has been recognized consistently as a highly effective treatment for children on the autism spectrum.

Autism affects behavior, social interactions, learning, and more – and many individuals and their loved ones may find it more challenging to navigate everyday situations with autism and support their child in accessing moments that are important to the child.

At Gateway, our team sees the potential in every client we work with, and we’re committed to your child’s development and growth. Our services are designed to provide your child with coping skills and effective strategies that reduce challenging behaviors while building new, necessary skills. Our team of professionals is highly accommodating, and thus, therapy sessions can take place in our clinic, in the client’s home, or in a community setting – when appropriate.

At Gateway, we work one-on-one with your child to understand and identify growth opportunities and apply ABA approaches that are tailored to their unique needs. We consistently collect and analyze treatment data so you, as the parent/caregiver, can see exactly how much progress your child is making, pinpoint opportunities for improvement, and more.

Our Process

Intake Process
During the intake process, a member of our team will do an introductory call to learn more about your child, their history, and your goals with ABA therapy. During this time, we will also gather any demographic information and paperwork. Next, we will submit for pre-authorization for the initial assessment if required by the insurance payer.

Initial Assessment
The Initial Assessment is the first step in developing your child’s treatment plan for ABA therapy. The clinician will conduct an assessment of your child’s skills and behaviors. This is approached holistically by interviewing you and asking questions, observing your child, and prompting your child to complete tasks. This will enable the clinician to evaluate your child’s communication and social skills, as well as emotional development. The clinician will then develop the treatment plan in collaboration with you to set goals and objectives for therapy.

Onset of Therapy
In the first few days of one-on-one ABA therapy, clients can expect a focus on building a strong, positive relationship with their therapist, a process known as “pairing.” During this time, the therapist will engage the client in activities and play to establish trust and rapport. This foundational step ensures that the client feels comfortable and motivated to participate in therapy sessions. The overall goal is to create a supportive and engaging environment where the client is eager to learn and grow. After the initial pairing phase, clients can expect a more structured approach to therapy where the specific goals and objectives from the initial assessment are addressed although pairing will continue from time to time throughout the ongoing therapy relationship.

Ongoing
Since your clinician develops a treatment plan specifically tailored to your child’s needs, it is regularly reviewed, revised, and updated to support the child’s growth and progress in therapy. Additionally, “parent training” is offered and encouraged throughout the course of services, with the option for weekly meetings. This provides an opportunity for the clinician to collaborate closely with your family, ensuring everyone is aligned, has access to the same tools, and is actively involved in developing your child’s goals, and by extension supporting your child’s success both inside and outside of therapy.

We work hard to cultivate an environment that is comfortable, compassionate, interactive, and positive for your child – and our goal is to see your child and family thrive. Fill out the form below to begin services with us today!
