We are very excited for the 6th annual Michigan Autism Conference (MAC) taking place this week, October 11th-12th, in Kalamazoo. MAC was first organized in 2013, with a mission to “disseminate information and training on scientifically validated, behaviorally based treatments to parents, caregivers, and professionals who work with and care for individuals with autism spectrum disorder.”

MAC provides a wonderful opportunity for parents and professionals alike to learn about the latest research from leading names in the field through a variety of presentations and workshops. You can find more information about MAC, as well as the full conference program, at their website: http://www.michiganautismconference.org/

Among the many events included this year’s conference, we are especially excited to see contributions by two Gateway team members. The first is Kenzie Gatewood, who will be joining Dr. Kate Lalonde of Western Michigan University to give a presentation titled, “Innovative Procedures for Teaching Early Verbal Skills”

The research of another Gateway team member, Kailie Kipfmiller, will also be featured at the conference among the poster sessions. The study, affiliated with Michigan State University, is also set to be published in an upcoming issue of the Journal of Behavioral Education. The full title of the article and its authors are included below:

Training Front-Line Employees to Conduct Visual Analysis Using a Clinical Decision-Making Model: Kailie J. Kipfmiller, Matthew T. Brodhead, Katie Wolfe, Katherine LaLonde, Emma S. Sipila, M. Y. Savana Bak, & Marisa H. Fisher

A more detailed description of each of these presentations can be found in the conference program on MAC’s website. We are very proud of Kenzie, Kailie, and all of Gateway’s talented clinicians making important contributions to the field of ABA. We’ll be looking forward to seeing you all at MAC!
